Do
I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent
residence?
Yes.
How
or where do I obtain one?
Local Requests
Applicants should apply for a Character Clearance Certificate
or a Police Clearance Certificate at the local district
office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Police
Security Branch. Application forms are available at the SSP office,
but in rural areas, the forms must be requested in writing.
Government servants must request a No Objection Certificate
from their employer. Other applicants must provide an affidavit
stating that they are not government servants. To complete the
application, the applicant should provide copies of the national
identification cards, a statement from the local mullah or town
counsellor that the applicant is a resident of the district, plus
two passport-size photographs. Some police stations, such as
Karachi, also require that fingerprints be submitted.
Non-Resident
Requests
Applicants may apply to the Pakistani embassy, consulate or high
commission in their country of residence.
